INSTRUCTORS

  • Founder & Lead Instructor – Baseline Training

    Simon Hugh is the founder of Baseline Training and serves as its Lead Instructor, combining seven years of military experience as a U.S. Army Infantryman and Infantry Officer with his current role as a Law Enforcement Officer in South Florida.

    Throughout his time in uniform, Simon served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, where he was responsible for leading soldiers through rigorous training cycles and coordinating multiple live-fire exercises designed to sharpen warfighter lethality and prepare his unit for real-world combat operations.

    As a Law Enforcement Officer, Simon has taken the lead on multiple high-risk building searches / perimeter searches that have resulted in the successful apprehension of multiple violent offenders within his district. He’s responded to and resolved numerous priority calls with a calm, measured approach—prioritizing public safety while maintaining control under pressure. His leadership directly contributed to his department’s crime reduction initiative and earned him the respect of his peers and subordinates alike.

    These experiences translate directly into the qualities Simon brings to the Baseline Training team: tested leadership, mission planning under stress, and a sharp understanding of how to build capable shooters through focused, real-world instruction.

His instruction is designed to guide students from foundational marksmanship to advanced tactics with clarity, safety, and intent. Whether it’s a new shooter learning the ropes or a seasoned professional refining their edge, Simon’s goal is to deliver training that is disciplined, effective, and purpose driven.

  • Instructor – Baseline Training

    Andres Rial is a United States Army veteran and active Law Enforcement Officer based in South Florida, bringing over a decade of combined service experience to the Baseline Training team.

    He served over five years in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer, where he developed a foundation in firearms proficiency, tactical discipline, and team leadership. During his military service, Andres trained extensively in weapons handling, base security operations, and law enforcement support missions—skills he continues to refine in his current role as a patrol officer.

    In his law enforcement career, Andres has been recognized for his proactive enforcement efforts within his district. He has led and executed numerous successful investigations and deployments targeting high-risk offenders, resulting in the removal of convicted felons, illegal firearms, and narcotics from the streets. His ability to perform under pressure and lead from the front has earned him respect among his peers and within his department.

    As an instructor, Andres offers a direct and disciplined approach to firearms training. His teaching is grounded in real-world law enforcement experience and supported by his military background. He specializes in rifle and handgun deployment for duty and personal defense, with a focus on practical tactics, safety, and mindset.

    Andres brings a no-nonsense standard of excellence to Baseline Training—balancing humility, operational knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to helping students improve their capabilities on and off the range.
